Welcome!
You’ve probably come to our Web site after hearing Howie Mandel
discuss his AD/HD, or attention-deficit/hyperactivity
disorder. As Howie notes, AD/HD is a lifelong disorder. Sure, the
symptoms can change with age, but for many people the disorder can
continue to create great difficulty when it’s not treated. Many
people with undiagnosed and untreated AD/HD encounter formidable
obstacles at home, in relationships, and in the workplace.
There is good news, however: Help is
available. If you’re new to AD/HD and CHADD, here are some steps
you can take to begin to address this serious but highly treatable
disorder.
- Learn the basics about adult AD/HD and view a
symptom checklist.
- Request an adult information packet, and
tell us more about you.
- Visit a medical professional to begin
the evaluation process.
- Find a CHADD support group in your area.
- Join CHADD and start receiving Attention magazine, gain access to
past articles, and receive a complimentary copy of The NEW
CHADD Information and Resource Guide to AD/HD, plus much
more!
Once you have taken some of the basic
steps, you’ll find that the Web sites of CHADD and the National Resource Center on
AD/HD are full of information that will continue to improve
your life well after the diagnosis. We invite you to continue to visit
our sites. We’re here for you every step of the way.
Congratulations on all the progress you’re making!
