Dr. Passarotti is a developmental psychologist and cognitive neuroscientist. She employs neurocognitive and fMRI methods within a translational neuroscience approach towards understanding the mechanisms of cognitive and affective dysfunction in pediatric mental illness, including ADHD. Her current projects examine executive functions, self-regulation and reward systems in ADHD and pediatric bipolar disorder. She is also developing cognitive remediation tools, by means of a longitudinal cognitive remediation study with pre- and post-training fMRI. Cognitive intervention may aid patients who suffer from attention and working memory problems because it can strengthen executive functions processes.
