ADHD Awareness Calendar of Suggested Activities

Step 1: Gather a few key people to work with you and decide on an activity

5-minute efforts

-'Join the Buzz.'  - CHADD's social media campaign.

-Watch the hashtag #ADHDawareness on Twitter throughout the month of October for information about ADHD from CHADD, National Resource Center on ADHD, ADDitude Magazine, ADHD Coaches Organization (ACO), & Attention Deficit Disorder Association (ADDA).  Retweet to your followers.


1-2 hours

-Ask your local library display some books from these lists of staff favorites:


1/2 day or more

  • -Set up a table at a local fair or community event
  • -Ask local businesses to help distribute CHADD and local CHADD literature.
  • -Hold a fundraiser for your chapter/CHADD National

*If you are a local CHADD Volunteer and have some more ideas and materials, please share them with other volunteers on CHADD Exchange.




Step 2:

Develop a timeline and a budget if you are hosting an event.

Step 3:

Solicit local business/donations for funding of an educational event. (CHADD chapters/satellites)

Step 4:

Nail down a location for an educational event.

Step 5:

Print flyers for your event. View a sample.

Step 6: Send out a press release:

  • Next, individuals can use this press release template (coming soon) to raise awareness, or local CHADD groups can use this press release template to share information about activities.

Step 6: Host event/activity


Read stories about personal triumphs and struggles.
