Frequently Asked Questions

The National Resource Center on AD/HD (NRC) provides answers to most of the commonly asked questions about attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. AD/HD is the most commonly diagnosed neurobehavioral disorder in children. Although a child's symptoms may change as he/she gets older, most individuals do not outgrow AD/HD. In fact, for most individuals with AD/HD, symptoms continue into adulthood. It is estimated that 4-6 percent of adults continue to face many of the challenges of AD/HD.

If you or someone you love has AD/HD, you probably have many questions. Our list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) addresses many of these, which include questions such as:

Is there a simple test to diagnose AD/HD?
Can you help me find a summer camp for my child?
Can a woman with AD/HD take stimulant medication while pregnant?

See the full list of FAQs.

If you don't find the answer to your question, please browse through the main topic headings on the NRC site.
