17th CHADD Annual Conference
Hope, Resiliency and Success: AD/HD Interventions for a Lifetime
Dallas, TX October 27-29, 2005.
CHADD, the nation's leading advocacy organization
serving individuals with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder
(AD/HD), welcomed more than 1,000 participants to Dallas, Texas, for the
17th Annual International Conference on AD/HD. Attendees from as far
away as Switzerland, Uruguay and Israel gathered in the lone star state
Oct. 27-29, 2005 under the theme "Hope, Resiliency and Success: AD/HD
Interventions for a Lifetime."
Plenary/General Sessions

This year's conference included keynote presentations by three
world-renowned experts.

Barbara Coloroso, M.Ed., discusses the importance of helping children
build a strong sense of self during the opening plenary on "The Bully,
the Bullied and the Bystander."

CHADD Chief Executive Officer E. Clarke Ross, D.P.A., outlines "AD/HD
Challenges and the Strategic Role of CHADD" during the Friday morning
general session.

James Swanson, Ph.D., provides participants with an understanding of the
"Response Ready" "Style of AD/HD Individuals: Evidence from Molecular
Genetics," also during the Friday morning general session.

Sam Goldstein, Ph.D., showcases the personal stories of five individuals
who have managed to thrive despite the challenges of AD/HD as part of
his discussion on "Achieving Balance, Confidence and Personal Strength
While Living with AD/HD." Pictured here is Patrick, a social worker, who
was diagnosed with the disorder as an adult.
CHADD Hall of Fame

Stephen Spector and Soleil Gregg escort JoLeta Reynolds,
policy advisor at the U.S. Department of Education, to the podium as she
is inducted into the CHADD Hall of Fame for her contributions to
improving the lives of people with AD/HD. Innovative Program of the
Year

Mark Katz, Ph.D., and CHADD President Phyllis Anne
Teeter Ellison, Ed.D., congratulate Stephen Evans, Ph.D., on receiving
CHADD's Innovative Program of the Year Award. Dr. Evans, along with his
colleagues at James Madison University developed the Challenging
Horizons Program, a cost-effective model for helping adolescents
struggling with AD/HD.
Networking Lunch

Participants pack the Exhibit Hall on Friday for lunch
and networking by region.
Research Symposium

Peter Jensen, M.D., highlights new findings from the
National Institute of Mental Health's Multimodal Treatment Study of
Children with AD/HD during one of the research symposia held during the
conference.
Breakout Sessions

Matthew Cohen, J.D., discusses referrals for testing
during a Friday breakout session on the reauthorization of IDEA.

Ruth Hughes,Ph,D., CHADD deputy CEO for public policy and community
services, highlights the successful collaboration of the Northern
Virginia Chapter of CHADD and the Fairfax County, Virginia, School
System in developing a training video for high school teachers, "AD/HD
Teens Talk," during the Advocacy 101 breakout session.
Exhibit Hall

Sixty-nine exhibitors provide information, materials and
give-away gifts to the more than 1,000 attendees at the 17 th Annual
CHADD International Conference. Exhibit Hall events included a Grand
Opening Reception, complimentary box lunch and an ice cream social to
attract participants to the booths. For more information on how to

Dallas Hoe Down

After an informative and productive conference day,
conference attendees kick up their heels to the country western music of
Gatlin McAdoo and his band, Back Forty, at the Dallas Hoe Down. The Hoe
Down also featured a traditional Texas barbecue.

This year's conference concluded on Saturday, October
29. CHADD's 18th Annual International Conference on AD/HD will be held
in Chicago, Ill., October 26-28, 2006.
