Kids with ADHD need help in school. CHADD's Parent Empowerment Program is a one-day workshop for parents of children with disabilities -- including ADHD and related conditions. It empowers parents with information and resources to help improve child behavior and school achievement.  

Empowered Parents are their child's best advocate and the bridge between home and school.
Empowered Parents know their child's rights under federal law and communicate effectively with teachers and other school personnel.

The Parent Empowerment Program gives you the tools you need to be your child’s best advocate. You learn about your child’s educational rights and how parents and educators can work as partners in your child’s education.

This interactive workshop will help answer these questions and more:

What do I do if my child is struggling in school?
How can I work with my child’s teachers and school as a partner and not an adversary?
What is IDEA, what is Section 504, and what’s the difference?
What is Response to Intervention (RtI) and how can it help my child?
How do I request and get a referral and evaluation for services?
What are my child’s rights and my responsibilities?
What’s my role in developing an IEP (Individual Education Plan) or a Section 504 Plan?
How can I best communicate my child’s strengths and weaknesses to teachers?
What school documentation do I need to keep and what’s the best way for me to organize all these records?
What is the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendment Act of 2008 (ADAAA) and how does it impact Section 504?

Registration fee includes training materials and lunch.  Educators will be provided with 6.5 credit hours of Continuing Education.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be received in writing and must be received by January 14, 2012 for the Atlanta workshop to  qualify for a refund. A $15 administrative fee will be deducted from the total registration fee.
