Volunteers
It is our objective to increase
the involvement of local members in on-site conference activities.
Benefits will be provided for volunteers who work in the capacity of
staffing information/hospitality booths, the CHADD Store, registration,
office assistant, and serving as floor hosts.
A variety of incentives to
on-site volunteers will be offered. For a minimum of one shift,
approximately 8 hours, volunteers working at the CHADD Shoppe,
hospitality, and/or information booths, or as a floor host will receive
a one-day complimentary conference attendance. Please note: The
complimentary registration is for the general conference only which does
not include conference institutes on Wednesday and Thursday. Staffing
the CHADD Store will also earn you coupons toward conference purchases
at the CHADD Store.
If you are interested in taking
advantage of this great opportunity to save money, make new friends, and
learn about diagnosis, research and treatment of AD/HD, please
e-mail conference@chadd.org. Volunteers
will be scheduled on a first come first serve basis.
Because volunteer positions are
limited and no shows and last minute volunteer cancellations impact the
quality of our program, you will be required to sign a statement of
commitment. A form will be forwarded to you once you approve your
volunteer schedule.

2009 ANNUAL CONFERENCE
VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTIONS
FLOOR HOSTS
The floor hosts play an important role in helping conference
attendees locate meeting rooms. Volunteers will be assigned to specific
locations within the hotel and will be asked to wear a CHADD VOLUNTEER
badge to make it known that they are there to help. In between meetings,
when the corridors are packed with people, it will be a great help to
attendees to have someone point them in the right direction. Volunteers
will be equipped with a hotel map and a convention program and will have
a chance to orient themselves before their shift begins. It is very
important that floor hosts remain at their station for their entire
shift unless otherwise instructed.
CHADD INFORMATION/HOSPITALITY DESK
Volunteers working at the CHADD Information Desk will answer
questions and provide information about the conference. It is best to
have volunteers from or familiar with the Cleveland, OH area, as
they may be asked about local attractions, restaurants, and
transportation as well. Volunteers at the Information Desk will be
equipped with conference programs, brochures, restaurant lists, hotel
information, and other written materials to assist them when answering
questions. A walkie-talkie will be stationed at the information desk at
all times. For questions that volunteers may not be able to answer,
contact Marsha via the walkie-talkie.
CHADD STORE
Educational products, audio/video tapes and novelty products are sold
at the CHADD Store. Volunteers will assist customers with
purchases. Customers will complete order forms and hand it to the
cashier who will accept payment. Cash, check or credit card will be
accepted. The customer will then take the sales receipt to a volunteer
who will fill the order. Volunteers will fill orders. Paid personnel
will serve as cashiers.
REGISTRATION
Volunteers working at the CHADD Registration Desk will be assisting
attendees who have pre-registered for the conference and are checking in
to receive their name badge and registration packets. Registration will
be very busy, especially in the mornings. This assignment is best for
people with patience and a smile. Detailed instructions will be given at
the registration station. Computer skills are helpful but not
necessary.
OFFICE ASSISTANT (limited opportunities)
This position requires knowledge of office machines, i.e.; fax,
copier, computer, and answering machine. Duties include answering
phones, taking messages, copying, faxing, assisting proctors, etc.
Office machine repair knowledge is very helpful.
