What is the ADHD Family Intervention Study?
NIMH-funded project to evaluate the
effectiveness of two psychosocial interventions for ADHD.
Offered through the CHOP ADHD Center under
the direction of Thomas Power, Ph.D.
What Will Participants be Offered?
A 12-week training and education program
that includes groups for both parents and children.
At least one meeting at school involving the
child's parent, teacher, and study clinician.
An optional trial of medication for
treatment of ADHD symptoms.
If a child has never had a formal ADHD
diagnostic evaluation, the family may obtain one through the study.
All services through the study are provided
to families at no financial cost.
Who is Eligible to Participate?
Families may participate if they have a
child in grades 2 through 6 who is diagnosed with
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Children must also have problems with
homework performance.
Additional Information
Parents, children, and teachers will be
asked to complete tests and rating scales at several time points during
the study.
Children will be observed in their
classrooms by a member of the research team at several points during the
study.
Study sessions are held at the CHOP ADHD
Center offices at 3440 Market Street in Philadelphia. Sessions are
typically scheduled for the evening (most start at 6:30pm).
Study is active until March, 2010.
