Research Study Detail

Title: Brain Imaging Research Study of Children with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Location: Detroit, MI
Organization: Wayne State University School of Medicine
Description:

We are conducting two brain imaging studies of children and adolescents with ADHD using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS). MRI collects high quality pictures of the brain and MRS measures the concentration of specific biochemicals within the brain. The biochemical and structural brain measurements of children/adolescents with ADHD will be compared with those of children/adolescents without ADHD.

The objective is to achieve a better understanding about the biochemical causation of ADHD.

Study 1:

Image Children with ADHD between the ages of 6 and 9 years old are eligible.
Image Children who do not have ADHD and are between the ages of 6 and 9 years old also may be eligible as healthy control subjects.
Image Participants in this study will receive a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation and two combined MRI and MRS examinations approximately 1 year apart of each other.

Study 2:

Image Childen with ADHD between the ages of 10 and 18 years old are eligible.
Image Children who do not have ADHD and are between the ages of 10 and 18 years old also may be eligible as healthy control subjects.
Image Participants in this study will receive a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation and a combined MRI and MRS examination.

Financial compensation will also be provided in both studies.
