Annual Conferences

The CHADD Annual Conference is the major research, practice and public information conference dedicated to issues related to ADHD. The annual conference brings together researchers, clinicians, educators, parents, other caregivers and adults with ADHD.

CHADD's 24th Annual International Conference on ADHD 
"25 Years of Making a Difference" , will be held in San Francisco, California on November 8-10, 2012 at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport. Save the Date! More information coming soon.

•Call for Papers to speak at the 2012 Annual Conference - The proposal submission process for speakers is an online process only and starts in December. It is now closed for the 2012 Annual Conference, and will re-open in December of 2012 for the 2013 Annual Conference.

The submission of proposals for scientific research poster abstract or innovative program is also an online process and is still open for the 2012 Annual Conference.

Information and Resources for ADHD Patients

Over 300 Attendees Hear 17 Speakers Discuss New Strategies for Treatment of ADHD

Long Island, NY – May 19, 2011 – CHADD, the Organization for Children and Adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, in partnership with Tourette Syndrome Association of Long Island, held its successful conference about ADHD treatments and practices this past weekend in Long Island. The events over 300 attendees including health practitioners, parents and caregivers, heard about strategies to manage the treatment of ADHD, how to cut through the information/advice clutter, current research-based information and promising treatment practices.

ADHD is a lifespan disorder that often comes with multiple coexisting conditions including Tourette Syndrome and other associated symptoms. Attendees found many relevant breakout sessions at this conference including: understanding twice exceptional kids, special education law, bullying, transitioning your child to college, women’s relationship issues, anger management, alternative treatments and keeping your marriage alive with ADHD. Conference keynote speaker, Chris Dendy, author of multiple books on ADHD and executive functioning deficits offered expertise and practical advice on issues relating to adult ADHD in a break-out session called   “Executive Function: Why Does It Matter?” and presenter Ari Tuckman, PsyD, MBA, offered expert advice and answers to audience questions on a broad range of ADHD related topics.

“There were so many good breakout sessions that it was hard to choose which one to attend, quoted one conference attendee. The recent increase in adult ADHD diagnosis has necessitated an expansion of CHADD’s role as information provider and education source for those who have ADHD. Until recent years, it was believed that children outgrew ADHD in adolescence. However, it is now known that many symptoms continue into adulthood. If the disorder goes undiagnosed or untreated during adulthood, individuals may have wrestler Matt Morgan, Sir Richard Branson, James Carville, Terry Bradshaw and Howie Mandel are among those who have ADHD.
  
“Growing up with undiagnosed ADHD can have devastating effects, with adults often thinking of themselves as "lazy," "crazy," or "stupid.", quoted CHADD Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ruth Hughes. “As a result, proper diagnosis can be profoundly healing, putting present difficulties into perspective and making sense of lifelong symptoms.” Hughes continued.



Rick Green and Patrick McKennaIn keeping with their mission to help educate adult ADHD patients, CHADD presented a new stage performance called “Now What?!” by the creators of ADD & Loving IT?! the very popular and groundbreaking PBS film about ADHD. The interactive and hilarious stage performance at the University of Maryland’s Clarice Smith Center in College Park, MD on June 12, 2011 featured performances by Rick Green and Patrick McKenna, two renowned Canadian comedians and stars of ADD & Loving It?! and were accompanied on stage by ADHD Expert Dr. Umesh Jain.
